• Yes you do have a Clothing Personality

    1:38 PM PST, 5/24/2010

Your Clothing Personality is a very important part of your Personal Style. Determined by your body structure and the type of hair style and facial features you have. Some people know instinctively what their style is and feel "at home" in what they wear and truly express who they are. Others can sometimes be influenced by others. Remember when you and Mom would disagree over what you wanted to wear? Or how about your work dictating what you wear.

There are 6 categories that are quite commonly used in reference to clothing styles. Romantic, Classic, Dramatic, Natural, Ingenue and Gamin.

In this blog we will explore the Romantic first.

She is a "sexy lady" born to be curvy and very feminine. She is charming, enchanting and has a magnetic personality.

Candlelight, music and floral scents enhance her environment.

Facial features attractive soft and rounded and large flirty eyes.

Hairstyle is soft curly layers or featured around the face. Softness and bounce to any length.

Her clothing has lines that are rounded or curved with lots of draping. Flowing shapes with a defined waistline and feminine line sometimes intricate or ornate.

Romantics love silks, angora or cashmere and velvet. Some soft leathers and suedes. Chiffons and lace are also favorites of hers. Prints will include over sized florals, polka dots, and feathery shapes.

Accessories include dainty detailed but lavish in effect jewelry. Diamonds are definitely this gals best friend. Silk scarves and flowers work well. Much of the time the garments are finished with accessory details such as lavish buttons, metallic or thread embroidery, even stitched on beading, sequins, pearls and rhinestones.

Here is a picture of what a Romantic style can look like.

  • Is there a difference in quality on Brand Names

    11:39 AM PST, 5/15/2010

15+ years of working with every brand of clothing I have come to a conclusion, that YES there is a difference. This morning as I was getting ready to list this fabulous Ralph Lauren shirt I noticed the extra details in the workmanship from re-enforced button holes to the embroidered Logo on the front. The feel of the fabric and the fact that this may possibly be a 70's shirt shows very little wear.

So you may pay a little more but your dollar goes so much further, that is unless you want something new every month and it fits the budget. Today I think it is all about where we can cut our expenses and make our dollars go further.

In conclusion, shop wise, shop smart, shop eBay for the very best deals.

What about those great tops that we wear with anything from our jeans to a nice pencil skirt.

1* Don't wear a top that is either too tight or too baggy. Loose baggy ones make us look large all over and the tight ones will give you an out of proportion look to our hips. Ughhhhh!

2*A nice fitted T-shirt (remember not to tight) or button front top plus turtlenecks, open collars and V-neckline call attention to the face making the eyes look up. That's a good thing.

Check my store for some of those great blouses, shirts and tops.

Oh and when you sport a Jacket or Blazer make sure that it does not hit the widest part of your hips. Remember to always look in a full length mirror to see what people see from behind you. That could be an interesting view!!!!

Depending on your height the Jacket or Blazer should fall just below the waist to mid thigh. And don't forget that you do not have to "button" the jacket up. Wearing it open gives you those slimming vertical lines that slenderize the body shape. WOW that's for me. Oh and another tip, if you are heavy from the waist down, PULL UP those sleeves. Solid color around your middle will add the look of weight, so push those sleeves up and break up that color. Takes 10 lbs. off your look. Go ahead and try it standing in front of a mirror, SEE it does work!

  • How to care for leather shoes

    How to Polish Leather Shoes

The first thing people notice about you when you walk in a room is your shoes. So they'd better be looking tip.

Why Polish Leather Shoes? The best quality shoes are made of top grade leather, but if you don't take care of them, even the nicest leather can look terrible over time.

Remove Dirt From the Leather Shoes The first step is to make sure your shoes aren't dirty. After removing laces if you've got any, take a damp cloth or clean rag and wipe away any dust or debris clinging to your shoes. If they're particularly filthy, try using a saddle soap or other leather cleaner to properly prep your kicks. You may want to invest in a couple tools to help in polishing your shoes, which can include chamois or buffing cloths, polish applicators, shining brushes, and a shoe horn. You can also use an old cotton t-shirt to do the jobs.

Polish the Leather Shoes Apply a generous amount of polish to your shoes with a clean cloth or applicator, but do not to cake it on. For tough to reach spots, try using a q-tip, especially near the seams to the sole. Once you've applied a first coat, allow the polish to dry for about fifteen minutes. Most times all you'll need is a single coat, but if you've never polished your shoes you may need to go back and touch up the spots that need it most.

Buff the Leather Shoes Use your shoe brush to get rid of any polish that hasn't been absorbed by the leather of your shoes. Use a clean q-tip to get the tight spots, and don't stop until you've wiped off all the polish. Next take a clean cloth or chamois and buff your polish to a shine. Your wardrobe is an investment and your belts and shoes should be treated as such. When you treat them well and take good care of them they will last you for years to come. Classic shoes, especially for men do not go out of style from season to season.

    Dressing with Style
    5 Fashion Tips

    1. When you have "no shoulders" don't take out those shoulder pads!!!!! They will balance you body frame and make you look 10lbs. lighter. You do not have to use "football" size shoulder pads, but use SHOULDER PADS.

    2. If you use a shoulder bag/purse and you do not want to emphasis your hips, then make sure that bag does not land at the hip area. Look in the mirror at your backside with the shoulder bag on your shoulder. Where is the focal point!!!! If it lands on the hip area, tie up those straps.

    3. The key to any accessory is to make the eye look up. So if you wear pins/brooch'es wear them up on the shoulder. Wearing them close to your breast makes that the area people will look at first. Get those pins move up right at the shoulder area. It will add class and a great look.

    4. Do you have extra weight around your middle? Then push up those sleeves. Solid color around the middle of your body creates a bigger look. Break up that solid color by pushing up your sleeves. Test this out:

Stand in front of a mirror with those sleeves down, then push them up, you look 10lbs thinner!!!!!!!

    5. Buy a GOOD bra that lifts you up, nothing is worse then sagging "ladies". Starting with a good foundation is the key to how well your clothing will look on you.

  • Are you the Superwoman of the 21st Century????

    5:35 PM PST, 3/9/2007

As women, we are busier than ever with family, work, church, our spouse, our kids and our community.
Many times the last person to get your time and attention is YOU. Experts tell us that we see our reflection some 30-40 times a day. Meaning, our appearance can give us 30 positive affirmations or negative reinforcements.

That is 30-40 ways to say "Way to Go" or "Go Away". Start with an extra five to ten minutes at the beginning of the day to put your look together so you are ready to meet the world..your neighbor, or your 2 year old! This will include your hairstyle, your make-up, and your outfit.

The result will be that you will have more confidence and feel better about yourself all day. You will also reduce the stress and tension that come from being "unready" for the day.
